Trying to form some plans for my staycation starting at the end of next week, I took a page from Havi, and asked Slightly-Future-Me, who's already HAD that vacation, how it went.
Me: Hi there, Slightly-Future-Me, I hear you just had a vacation! How was it?
SFM: Incredible! I yawned. I stretched. I connected with people who matter. And I spent time with children. What’s not to love?
Me: Cool, thanks, that’s what I wanted to hear!
I got up. I took a stroll around the room. I thought to myself, "Now, I need to analyze Slightly Future Me's response to see what I should plan for my break." And all of a sudden, I had a vision of myself in a white lab coat, measuring bubbling and possibly dangerous chemicals into a beaker. Because, you know, why not?
So now, back in the laboratory (it MUST be pronounced lab-O-ratory, of course!) I get to measure out a dram of yawn, a smidge of stretch (or maybe it's the other way around), and a good splash each of time with family and essence of children - and whatever comes out of that is what I'll do.
Pretending to be a time traveler and talking to yourself two weeks from now might be silly, but by gum, it WORKS!
