Every year, we say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new. Sometimes this happens quickly, sometimes it takes more reflection. I said farewell to 2012 a couple of weeks ago, and then sat back and watched the process of greeting the new year. It starts with choosing words for the year. Some choose one word for the new year; I choose 4. Last year, the words were Ease, Safety, Alignment, and Healing - all very appropriate at the time. From those words I condensed some goals and things to try differently last year. I focused on self-care as part of Ease, spending time off of the computer and in meatspace as part of Alignment. For Safety and Healing, I picked up a book and started learning Nonviolent Communication.
This year, my words are Freedom, Compassion, Surrender, and Communication.
This year, also, I stumbled across Bridget's blog, Intuitive Bridge, and her Color of the Year project. My color is turquoise with a hint of pink - I've been drawing it as a turquoise box with pink stripes running through it.
Turquoise is linked with the throat chakra, making my color about communication with a hint of intuition. Knowing what to say and when.
Combine those two signposts hinting that this is a year of communication with the fact that my attempt at learning NVC last year was only partially successful, and I see a path for my feet. I don't yet see secret ops here, but there might well be a path through the wood to grandmother's house, and on that path, there be wolves. 2013 will be a year of communication, of using my voice, of becoming less invisible, and much more able to say what needs to be said.
Welcome, 2013, I'm excited about this path. Let's go and see the wizard together!
